It was a magical evening at the South Valley Multipurpose Senior Center where we met new friends, shared a delicious meal of local organic food and were inspired by our community. There was an incredible diversity of presentations fromĀ flash mobs by the young to heart warming and humorous performances by the slightly older. At the end of the night we washed our dishes together and voted for the project that we felt best benefited the Albuquerque Community. The full set of our Sprout Gothic photos can be viewed on our Facebook Page.
Our diners donated $1909, which meant we were able to award 3 micro-grants to winners instead of just one!
- Rio Grande Community Farm / Share the Harvest
$1000 micro-grant - Friends of the Orphan Signs
$500 micro-grant - South Valley Seniors
$409 micro-grant
All of the presenter’s applications and supporting photos and videos along with their contact information will be posted this week. Their presentations from our dinner will follow shortly afterwards. I encourage everyone to support all of these innovative projects by volunteering your time or simply sharing their stories with others.
Our second Sprout Dinner will be held in May where all three winners will return to report on the progress they have made with their micro-grant. Our third Sprout Dinner will be held in October.
Open Call to Local Chefs
We were very fortunate to work with such an enjoyable and talented chef for our Inaugural Dinner. Tom Docherty from Cafe Lush donated so much of his time and energy into making our dinner an incredible success. His innovation in the kitchen was the highlight of the event. We are currently looking for a local chef to donate their time and talent in planning a meal for over 150 people that focuses on local food. We offer compensation in the form of heavy promotion on our website, in our numerous news articles, through our social media and at our event.
Support Sprout
We are seeking sponsorship of $2500 from local businesses and organizations to support our 3 dinners that fund innovative projects in Albuquerque. This support can be monetary in $500, $250 and $100 increments or as a food donation for the dinner. In exchange for sponsorship we offer different levels of promotion on our website, social networks, print ads, our year end publication and at our dinner.
We are a non-profit that supports our local economy.
Every dollar donated to us is directly invested in the Albuquerque community of businesses, farmers and restaurants.
Help us create community.
- Put us in touch with businesses and organizations that would be interested in sponsoring ABQ Sprout.
